IT'S NOT MY FAULT!!


It was the day when I went with my community members for a Confession in preparation for the Christmas.  As I was preparing myself for the Confession there was a inner voice..."Go and reconcile with that person first before confession."  With that person always I have little arguments and hurts.  I said, "Why? It was he who always makes things complicated and makes the situation hard."  Again God said, "God and reconcile with him first before confession"  I said, "Why? It's not my fault."  You know what did He said..."What was my fault to become like you and to die for you on the Cross?"  I was so silent.  I had nothing to say except doing what He asked of me.

That's true.  What fault and who's fault, and whose so ever the fault... Love everyone and forgive everyone without any condition.  I read in a book that even in asking pardon, we want to keep up our ego.  We say, 'I am sorry.'  The hold is still with us, whether you accept it or not, forgive me or not, just I am sorry.  But when we say, Please forgive me, we are more vulnerable to that persons mercy.  That's what I asked.. I asked 'please forgive me'.  God loves and if we love other with the same love and forgive with the same forgiveness that we receive from God we will be true witnesses to His Love.

So, forgive, ask pardon and love everyone in this Christmas season, May the new year be really a new year.

REJECTED IN SPITE OF DOING GOOD???

Every one of us, in one way or the other, in one stage or the another has come across the feeling of rejection, humiliation or left without appreciation or consideration even in times of doing good to others.  These moments are very painful in our lives.  Most of the time we don't receive the reward we expect, at least minimum a small appreciation for what we have done.  During these moments we feel as though we are forgotten.  When I feel the same way these days just God inspired me to think of the nature, it never expects anything from anyone, just they continue to do what they have created for - to be beneficial to others - to be fruitful. That's what St. Paul reflects in his letter to the Ephesians 2:10, "We are God's work of art, created in Christ Jesus for the good works which God has already designated to make up our way of life".  And that tells me the purpose of my creation.  As the creation of God just fulfills its purpose of creation so must I.  Then I think of the sign post or the stepney spare tire, which is thought of only in need then its presence is forgotten.

As I was reflecting about this during these days, today's (April 3, 2011) First Reading game me another inspiration.  The reading is taken from 1 Samuel 16:1,6-7, 10-13, which speaks about the anointing of shepherd boy David as king of Israel.  Prophet Samuel reaches the house of Jesse and asks to bring his sons to him for God has chosen the king of Israel from his sons.  Jesse brings his sons prophet Samuel judges them through outward appearance and God rejects.  Here what I am inspired to reflect is, when Prophet Samuel asked Jesse to present all his sons he should have done so.  He presented all his sons except one.  The younger one, the least of all, the shepherd boy David.  Why? I think he was not considered in anything. May be because of young or I think he was forgotten.  But God as He always searching for the last one, which the world considers as nothing, choses him.  In the same way, many a time, though we do good things to others, helpful to others, inspite of doing all these things if you are forgotten, rejected, not considered or valued, do not be worried.  God has chosen you to do good works, for it is he who designated you to be like this.  So, only look to him for your reward.  When David was chosen no one know for real about the anointing of David except Prophet Samuel.  Only later they came to know that God was with David.  Let us wait in the Lord. Always let us never forget this word of God, ""I have labored in vain," I thought and spent my strength for nothing." Yet what is due me was in the hand of Yahweh, and my reward was with my God. I am important in the sight of Yahweh, and my God is my strength." (Isaiah 49:4)

I CANNOT PRAY THE "OUR FATHER"



I cannot say Our if my religion has no room for others and their needs.

I cannot say 
Father if I do not demonstrate this relationship in my daily life.

I cannot say 
who art in Heaven if all my interests and pursuits are in earthly things.

I cannot say 
hallowed be thy name if I, who am called by his name am not holy.

I cannot say 
thy Kingdom come if I am unwilling to give up my own sovereignty and accept the righteous reign of God.

I cannot say 
thy will be done if I am unwilling or resentful of having it in my life.

I cannot say on 
Earth as it is in Heaven unless I am truly ready to give myself to his service here and now.

I cannot say 
give us this day our daily bread without expending honest effort for it or by ignoring the genuine needs of my fellow men.

I cannot say 
forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us if I continue to harbor a grudge against anyone.

I cannot say 
lead us not into temptation if I deliberately choose to remain in a situation where I am likely to be tempted.

I cannot say 
deliver us from evil if I am not prepared to fight in the spiritual realm with the weapon of prayer.

I cannot say 
Thine is the kingdom if I do not give the King the disciplined obedience of a loyal subject.

I cannot say 
Thine is the power if I fear what my neighbors do or say to me.

I cannot say 
Thine is the glory if I am seeking my own glory first.

I cannot say 
forever if I am anxious about each day's events.

I cannot say 
amen unless I honestly say "Cost what it may, this is my prayer."


This Prayer is taught by Jesus Himself. It's very powerful words.  If only I could able to say this prayer truly and meaningfully, I will see miracle everyday.

REFINED YOU AS SILVER!

This story, which I have read long back in a magazine 'Shalom Tidings', still stays in my heart and whoever comes to me with some problem still I narrate this beautiful small story.  Hope this story also gives you the right meaning for the suffering.

Once a prayer group had their monthly gathering.  In that gathering, as they started with prayer, they read the Word of God from the Book of Isaiah where it read, "See: I have refined you as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction." (Isaiah 48:10).  When the gathering was over, an elderly lady approached the prayer leader and asked that she could not understand the word of God, especially, 'I have refined you as silver'.  The prayer leader asked her whether she has ever seen a silversmith working.  She said that she did not see a silversmith working.  Then the prayer leader replied to her first to go and see and observe closely how the silversmith works then she can come back and the prayer leader will explain the Word of God.

The next day the lady searched for a silversmith shop and waited there for the silversmith to come and work.  Now the silversmith came, opened his shop, prepared the fire and gathered the small pieces of silver, put it in a little earthen pot and held it in the middle of the fire.  He was looking it for some time, then poured it in the mold. Now the elderly lady started to ask some doubt to the silversmith.  She asked him, "Sir, why do you keep the silver containing little earthen pot in the middle of the fire?"  He replied, "For the silver to get melted it needs a constant amount of heat, not with varied measure, only in the middle of the fire, I could get that constant measure of heat, that was the reason i held it in the middle of the fire."  "Mmmmm... well," the lady replied, "Ok then, you could have just kept that silver pot in the middle and done some other work, Why you have been constantly looking at it?"  "Though it needs constant amount of heat, if it becomes more hot, or too much heat will make it into ashes, it will become useless. That is the reason why I constantly look at it."  The Lady continued, "Well said sir, then how long will you be looking at it?"  After a while, the man replied quietly, "Until I see my face in it."





















Yes, some times God keeps us in the middle of the fire of problems, pains and sufferings.  Be sure that his eyes are on us, because he knows that beyond certain measure we will not be able to bear the sufferings. "No trial greater than human endurance has overcome you.  God is faithful and will not let you be tempted beyond your strength.  He will give you, together with temptation, the strength to escape and to resist." (1Corinthians 10:13)  Then how long will God allow the suffering? until he can see his face, his image in us.  When the silver starts melting we can see all the dirt which was inside the silver nuggets will start float at the surface, then after some time those dirt will come to the side walls of the earthen pot.  That time the silver will be pure and could reflect the images like mercury or mirror.  When God allows suffering, pain, he allows it to purify us.  When we are purified in the furnace of affliction all the unwanted emotions, feelings, speaches and actions removed away from our souls, we will become pure and able to reflect the true image of God.  For he knows us very well.

You could see different versions of this story in the net by unknown author, but the message is the same.  When we are in pain and suffering, we are under constant care of God because he is watching closely and we will become pure like silver and gold by our sufferings and reflect his divine image in our life.

"Is not Ephraim my favored son, the child in whom I delight? Often have I threatened him, but I still remember him, and my heart yearns for him.  I must show him mercy," declares Yahweh." (Jeremiah 31:20)
When the Lord has given you the bread of anguish and the water of distress, he, your teacher will hide no longer.  Your own eyes will see him, and your ear will listen to his words behind you: "This is the way, walk in it." (Isaiah 30:20-21)

THIS IS HOW WE WILL BE JUDGED!!




ON YOUR JUDGMENT DAY - Hands and Feet and Side

St. John, in his vision of heaven and the Lamb, pictures the Lamb coming again on the last day to judge us. All will see him, even those who have pierced him. He will come bearing the same scars that he showed to Thomas on his hands and feet and side.

HANDS
Hands that broke bread to signify his own broken body. Hands that ministered bread to the starving. Hands that laid themselves on the heads of little children. Hands that touched lepers. Hands that were calloused in the carpenter’s shop.

FEET
Feet that mother worried about as they pattered over lumber and nails and hammers, and brought her visions of the man who would be put to death by the same lumber and nails and hammers. Feet that Magdalene would wash. Feet before which the syrophoenician woman threw herself in petition, in love.

SIDE
The wound in the heart. It was large enough for a hand, for our Lord said to Thomas, “Put your hand into my side.” So when this Lamb comes, bearing these signs on hands and feet and side, we will all see the scars. We will be judged by them.

He will say, “Show me your hands.
Have they been scarred from giving? Are they scarred in service? Are they scarred in labour? Are they scarred in relieving the cares of feverish brows? Have they been scarred in giving food to the hungry? ‘For I was hungry and you gave me to eat.’

Show me your feet.
Have they gone on missions? Have they helped missionaries? Have they gone about doing good? Have they often made a track down the middle isle of the church to visit the Eucharistic Saviour? Have they ever wandered to the feet of the crucifix?

Show me your side.
Is it scarred in pain out of love for him? Has the heart been scarred in love – not in need-love or self-satisfying love, but in gift-love? Is the side scarred from thinking about my passion and my death that you may glory in my resurrection?”


Then, This is How we will be judged... Hands and Feet and Side

He who kills time injures eternity.



Take time to think- it is the source of power.



Take time to play- it is the secret of perpetual youth.



Take time to read- it is the fountain of wisdom.



Take time to pray- it is the greatest power on earth.



Take time to love and be loved- it is a God-given privilege.



Take time to be friendly- it is the road to happiness.



Take time to laugh- it is the music of the soul.



Take time to give- it is too short a day to be selfish.



Take time to work- it is the price of success.

SPIRITUAL LEPROSY

I am for sure, many of us will not even the see the picture below.  The moment we see this picture, a type of aversion engulfs us, a feeling of uneasiness crushes our mind.  Yes, this is a sample for leprosy.  Though there are medicines in these modern times to treat the leprosy, in the Old Testament it considered as the curse from God, and that person will be kept outside of the City until he is cured and certified by the high priest that he is ok.  In Old Testament there is a famous passage which narrates the leprosy of Naaman in 2Kings 5:1-15.  We feel dislike towards leprosy or lepers because we are fine and healthy.  May be physically we are alright, but spiritually we are lepers.  We are affected with Spiritual Leprosy.
The person who is affected by leprosy will have imperfect limbs, with no finger, nose, toe and etc.  Many of us think that this is because of the effect of the disease.  But the research shows that they loose not because of the disease.  It is because of the numbness.  Lepers will not have any feelings in the affected area, even if you cut the fingers they won't feel anything.  So, when they sleep the rats come and eat away their limbs, because of the numbness (feelinglessness) they do not know this.

In the same way we are affected in our life.  Without Prayer, Bible Reading, Sacraments, without going to the Church a kind of spiritual numbness creeps into our hearts.  There is no feeling of sin in our conscience.  Just take for granted, in the name of culture, fashion, modernity, we just loose the feeling of dignity and modesty.  Anything that gives comfort is alright.  Nothing is sin.  As a result without our knowledge we loose the grace of God, gift of God, Spirit of God, providence of God, protection of God exposing ourselves to all types of dangers of soul.

In the case of Naman the leper, his spiritual leprosy has to be cleansed fist than his physical leprosy.  He was affected by the leprosy of 'pride'. He was strong with leprosy and we too are the same.  The prophet sends the word to obey.  But he didn't.  The Bible says 'He thought' (2Kings 5:11). We also think many things instead of obeying to the Word of God.  When he obeyed he found the grace of God, praises the mercy of God, believes in the presence of God (2Kings 5:15) and at the end he could meet the Man of God, the prophet Elisha.  And he became perfect, like a child, entered into the Kingdom of God.  Do you know what he took with him when he went back to his country??? He came with silver, gold and all types of ornaments but went with two sack loads of soil from the land of God (2Kings 5:17).  The soil from God's land is more worth than any silver and gold.  To be a stupid for the sake of God is better than to be wise in the Godless position.

Let us come to our senses as the prodigal son (Luke 15:17), let us get rid of our spiritual numbness, senselessness, and turn back to God with raising up our imperfect limbs, becoming conscious of our imperfection, even from a distance like that of the ten lepers (Luke 17:12) let us shout: JESUS, MASTER! TAKE PITY ON US! He will help us to come to our senses and we shall be alive and active with the grace and mercy of God.

QUILT OF HOLES!!!

As I faced my Maker at the last judgment, I knelt before the Lord along with all the other souls.


Before each of us laid our lives like the squares of a quilt in many piles; an angel sat before each of us sewing our quilt squares together into a tapestry that is our life.


But as my angel took each piece of cloth off the pile, I noticed how ragged and empty each of my squares was. They were filled with giant holes. Each square was labeled with a part of my life that had been difficult, the challenges and temptations I was faced with in every day life. I saw hardships that I endured, which were the largest holes of all.

I glanced around me.. Nobody else had such squares. Other than a tiny hole here and there, the other tapestries were filled with rich color and the bright hues of worldly fortune. I gazed upon my own life and was disheartened.

My angel was sewing the ragged pieces of cloth together, threadbare and empty, like binding air.

Finally the time came when each life was to be displayed, held up to the light, the scrutiny of truth. The others rose; each in turn, holding up their tapestries. So filled their lives had been. My angel looked upon me, and nodded for me to rise.

My gaze dropped to the ground in shame. I hadn't had all the earthly fortunes. I had love in my life, and laughter. But there had also been trials of illness, and wealth, and false accusations that took from me my world, as I knew it. I had to start over many times. I often struggled with the temptation to quit, only to somehow mustered the strength to pick up and begin again.

I spent many nights on my knees in prayer, asking for help and guidance in my life. I had often been held up to ridicule, which I endured painfully, each time offering it up to the Father in hopes that I would not melt within my skin beneath the judgmental gaze of those who unfairly judged me.

And now, I had to face the truth. My life was what it was, and I had to accept it for what it was.

I rose and slowly lifted the combined squares of my life to the light.

An awe-filled gasp filled the air. I gazed around at the others who stared at me with wide eyes.

Then, I looked upon the tapestry before me. Light flooded the many holes, creating an image, the face of Christ. Then our Lord stood before me, with warmth and love in His eyes.. He said, 'Every time you gave over your life to Me, it became My life, My hardships, and My struggles.

Each point of light in your life is when you stepped aside and let Me shine through, until there was more of Me than there was of you.'

May all our quilts be threadbare and worn, allowing Christ to shine through!

God determines who walks into your life .....it's up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go.'

I need this back. If you'll do this for me, I'll do it for you....When there is nothing left but God that is when you find out that God is all you need.

QUIET NOW! BE STILL!



The world which is going into pieces is in need of peace in these days more than ever.  How can we make the world peaceful?  If the hearts of human beings received the peace of mind and heart, the whole world will receive peace.

Then, are we not at peace? Or in other words Are we at peace? Yes, without doubt, the answer is not!  We are not at peace.  We are not at peace with ourselves.  We are not at peace with our family, relatives, friends and with the nature.

Those who are at peace with God will have peace in the hearts which will bring peace everywhere.  God says, ‘Be still, know that I am God’ (Psalm 46:11).  When we are silence in peace, in that tranquility we will know God, hear him speak to us, experience his presence, love and guidance.

We are so noisy within us when problems, sufferings and pain come.  We shout, complain, perplexed, worried, and filled with anxiety like that of the roaring sea.  And still we forget that Jesus is on our boat.  We made him to sleep by worrying about ourselves, prioritizing our needs and desires.  When troubles surround us like stormy waves we make hell of noise.  When we come to Jesus wake him up, bring him into our hearts, into our lives, he looks at our worries, anxieties and he worries about our faithlessness in spite of his presence with us.  So, instead of speaking to us he turns to the nature and tells them and says, "Quiet now! Be Still!" (Mark 4:39).  He knows that the nature will obey better than us.  And it’s done.

He would like to say the same thing to us.  Are you sick, confused, and worried about so many things, in financial problem, dejected, despair… He says, "Quiet now! Be Still!" (Mark 4:39).  

Remember the people of Israel before taking a historical victory over the city of Jericho, God asks them to come round the city for seven days without making any noise, just observing silence in the presence of the Ark of the Covenant, in the presence of God.  They obeyed God and conquered the city.  In the same way if we obey his words and be silent in his presence with firm faith, depending not on our own, knowledge, wisdom and strength, be sure that you can be a conqueror of the problems and sufferings.   Do you believe?  Let it be done to you according to your faith.

“Though an army encamp against me, my will not fail; though war break out against me, I will still be confident.” (Psalm 27:3)

I COULD NOT RECOGNIZE YOU!




A 54 year old woman had a heart attack and was taken to
the hospital. While on the operating table she had a near death experience.
Seeing God she asked 'Is my time up?'
God said, 'No, you have another 43 years, 2 months and
8 days to live.'

Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and
have a face-lift, liposuction, breast implants and a tummy tuck.
She even had someone come in and change her hair color and brighten her teeth!
Since she had so much more time to live, she figured she might as well make the most of it.
After her last operation, she was released from the hospital.

While crossing the street on her way home, she was killed by an ambulance.
Arriving in front of God, she demanded, 'I thought you
said I had another 43 years? Why didn't you pull me from
out of the path of the ambulance?'


God replied:

'I didn't recognize you.'


Many times in many ways we always want to be like someone other than who we are.  In reality God wants us to be who we are.  He wants us to imitate his son Jesus Christ or the Saints and Mother Mary.  We try to follow anything new, everything fashionable, everyone except the above persons.  First let us ask the grace of God to be who we are as He created us and as He wants us to be.

YOUR CROSS - TOO HEAVY TO CARRY?

As I am doing my presentation on THE THEOLOGY OF THE CROSS IN PAULINE LETTERS, when I was making a research on the Cross, I found this beautiful story in a website.  As it is true in our life, I just thought of sharing it with you all.  Some of you who read may know this story already but it is worth treasure and reflect it over and over whenever we come across the feeling of the cross we carry is TOO HEAVY TO CARRY.


The young man was at the end of his rope. Seeing no way out, he dropped to his knees in prayer.

 "Lord, I can't go on," he said.
"I have too heavy a cross to bear." 

The Lord replied, 

"My son, if you can't bear its weight, just place your cross inside this room. Then, open that other door and pick out any cross you wish."

The man was filled with relief.

 "I'd like that one, Lord,"

he whispered. And the Lord replied,

" My son, that is the cross you just brought in."

DO WE NEED GOD?

Christians often say that everyone has a need for God or has a "God-shaped hole" in them, but skeptics usually respond that while Christians may have a need to worship something, they themselves do not. What many people don't realize is that a person's need for God isn't always as obvious as a desire to worship or to believe they'll go to heaven when they die. Many of the needs and longings that we all share are actually things that prompt us to look for God and that can be fulfilled by him.
Need: Wisdom
We all know that we lack knowledge. Many of us wish there was someone very wise and mature that we could confide in and ask advice of, but no human knows everything or has experienced much more than a century of life. Even the people we respect and think of as wise are busy with their own lives; we can't interrupt them at any hour of the day or night and expect them to listen to all our problems.
God is of course omniscient and perfectly wise, but furthermore he is always available and willing to teach us wisdom (Jas 1:5, Mt 7:7-11). He's also provided the Bible to teach us and help us make wise decisions, specifically books like Proverbs and the New Testament Epistles (letters) (Pr 1:1-7, Ps 119:98-100, 104-105).
Need: Moral behavior
We all want to be better people, yet we know that we aren't perfect and often do wrong. If we try to become better people on our own, we'll inevitably fail. If we realize our limitations and turn to God for help, he is willing and able to enable us to overcome those limitations, resist temptation and do what is right (Rom 7:15-25)
Need: Justice
Who hasn't complained that life is unfair? Most of us want equality and justice in the world. We wish life were like the stories we read as children, where things turned out well for the heroes and the villains were brought to justice. Instead, we see the rich getting richer, the poor getting poorer, and people in general continue to be selfish and apathetic.
God is the one who gave us this longing for justice, for he endowed us with consciences. He will ultimately give just punishment to those who deserve it (after giving them a lifetime on Earth to repent), and those who accept him will live in a place where there is no evil or suffering (Mt 13:41, Rev 21:1-4, 22-27).
Need: Unconditional love and friendship
We want to be known and understood completely, and loved even if our deepest failings are revealed. Yet no human completely knows another, for everyone has things they don't reveal to even their closest friends, and things they don't even know about themselves. Likewise, no one is perfect, and no one can love another person perfectly.
God, who created us, knows each of us completely (Ps 139), and loves us enough despite knowing all the evil inside of us that he died for us (Rom 5:6-8).
Need: Fulfillment
Nearly everyone has a reason to get out of bed in the morning, and many people say they're happy without God. But what about fulfillment: an inner peace even in the midst of difficult circumstances, a certain knowledge of the meaning and purpose of one's life despite one's mortality, a true sense that our deepest needs have been met (as opposed to the temporary satisfaction of wealth, entertainment, success, praise, etc. that ultimately leaves one craving more)?
God created us for a purpose, and we will find fulfillment and peace when we do what he designed us to do, namely be in relationship with him and love and worship him. It was because of this fulfillment that Paul could write the letter to the Philippians, rejoicing while he was in prison and saying, "I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength" (Php 4:12-13). (from rationalchristianity.net)

Usually on New Year Day many of us take some resolutions to follow up in the coming year.  And some of us don't remember it after 1st of January, and most of us have confusion to what to make as a resolution.  I think this will help us to be aware and take a right resolution for this year and take us away from the devil and make us closer to God.  WATCH OUT! Whose side you are leaning on?


1. Blessed are those who are too tired, too busy to go to Sunday Mass! They are my BEST WORKERS, because they do not worship the One true God.

2. Blessed are those Christians who wait to be asked and expect to be thanked. They are MY BENEFACTORS, because they spread my message of pride.

3. Blessed are those who are touchy and stop going to Church. They are MY MISSIONARIES, for they bring others also to myside.

4. Blessed are the trouble makers. They shall be called MY CHILDREN because they spoil the unity and peace of the Parish.

5. Blessed are those who compalain. They are my most obedient LISTENERS, for they speak what I teach them.

6. Blessed are those who are bored with the Minister's mannerism for they are MY GOOD FRIENDS, because they cause others also to stumble.

7. Blessed are the Church Members who expects to be invited to his own Church for he is MY SLEEPING PARTNER, because they do nothing and it done it is half done.

8. Blessed are those who gossip because they are MY GOOD DISCIPLES. because they cause divisions.

9. Blessed are those who are easily offended for they are MY GOOD COLLEGUES. because they give up easily.

10. Blessed are those who do not give their offering for God's work for they are MY BEST HELPERS, because they cause damage in Evangelization.

11. Blessed are those who profess to love God but hate his brother for he is MY BEST BROTHER, because he is a lier.

12 Blessed are YOU WHO WHEN YOU READ THIS AND THINK THAT THIS IS ABOUT OTHERS AND NOT FOR YOURSELF. I'VE GOT YOU TOO, because you justify yourself.
