REJECTED IN SPITE OF DOING GOOD???

Every one of us, in one way or the other, in one stage or the another has come across the feeling of rejection, humiliation or left without appreciation or consideration even in times of doing good to others.  These moments are very painful in our lives.  Most of the time we don't receive the reward we expect, at least minimum a small appreciation for what we have done.  During these moments we feel as though we are forgotten.  When I feel the same way these days just God inspired me to think of the nature, it never expects anything from anyone, just they continue to do what they have created for - to be beneficial to others - to be fruitful. That's what St. Paul reflects in his letter to the Ephesians 2:10, "We are God's work of art, created in Christ Jesus for the good works which God has already designated to make up our way of life".  And that tells me the purpose of my creation.  As the creation of God just fulfills its purpose of creation so must I.  Then I think of the sign post or the stepney spare tire, which is thought of only in need then its presence is forgotten.

As I was reflecting about this during these days, today's (April 3, 2011) First Reading game me another inspiration.  The reading is taken from 1 Samuel 16:1,6-7, 10-13, which speaks about the anointing of shepherd boy David as king of Israel.  Prophet Samuel reaches the house of Jesse and asks to bring his sons to him for God has chosen the king of Israel from his sons.  Jesse brings his sons prophet Samuel judges them through outward appearance and God rejects.  Here what I am inspired to reflect is, when Prophet Samuel asked Jesse to present all his sons he should have done so.  He presented all his sons except one.  The younger one, the least of all, the shepherd boy David.  Why? I think he was not considered in anything. May be because of young or I think he was forgotten.  But God as He always searching for the last one, which the world considers as nothing, choses him.  In the same way, many a time, though we do good things to others, helpful to others, inspite of doing all these things if you are forgotten, rejected, not considered or valued, do not be worried.  God has chosen you to do good works, for it is he who designated you to be like this.  So, only look to him for your reward.  When David was chosen no one know for real about the anointing of David except Prophet Samuel.  Only later they came to know that God was with David.  Let us wait in the Lord. Always let us never forget this word of God, ""I have labored in vain," I thought and spent my strength for nothing." Yet what is due me was in the hand of Yahweh, and my reward was with my God. I am important in the sight of Yahweh, and my God is my strength." (Isaiah 49:4)
